Wow

Major thunderstorms moved through our area last night with impressive lightning and accompanying thunder. I've seen little pin-sized hail mixed with rain before, but this was the first time I've ever seen a real hail storm with hail coming down in sheets. Thankfully, the hail was only the size of a marble, but it was pelting down furiously and had covered my back deck before the hail was replaced by a torrential downpour. We're expecting more storms this morning.

Odd weather we've been having, no?

Winter has finally arrived

wolf, running wolf
With all due apologies for those folks who have seen more than their share of snow this winter, but I'm purring at the lovely white stuff rapidly coating all the bushes and tress. I was afraid that we weren't going to get any snow at all this year, but the weather gods relented and we may get up to 6 inches.

I've already been out walking and enjoying seeing how the snow is coating various objects. Oh, for a decent camera (and the skill to use it).

I expect to see various snow sculptures in my area by tomorrow morning. One year, someone did a very credible Venus de Milo in their front yard.

Happy birthday [info]. Hope you have a wonderful day with cooperative muses, fun surprises, and lots of good fic to read. You know the day is going to be special when the heavens offer up a magnificent meteor shower to start the day. ::g::

What D&D character am I? quiz

gakked from [info]jcbdragon

More or less as I expected except for the Ranger part.

I Am A: Neutral Good Human Ranger/Cleric (4th/4th Level)

Details )

Interesting. There were more than a few questions I wanted to reply to with "both" or add qualifiers. There's a reason why the neutral part of my alignment is there. ::grin::

A sad farewell

Just saw the news that Floyd Red Crow Westerman passed away. I always enjoyed his guest appearances in various shows, but I was especially fond of his role as Albert Hosteen in the X-Files. He'll be missed.

Holiday fun

I'm probably way too easy to amuse this early in the morning. ::grin::

In remembrance

poppy, remembrance day
On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month the guns fell silent in the "war to end all wars." Sadly, the guns only paused.

I salute all veterans of all the wars and pray that one day we'll be free of the pestilence of war.

It's the 26th annual Banned Book Week.

Every year I'm amazed at the sheer number of books people find offensive enough to demand their immediate removal from public library shelves. This list is just the top ten for 2006.

Storm Surge (XF/Highlander)

wolf, running wolf
Storm Surge

His AD is trying to drive him to quit, he's dreaming while he's awake, he has a case which refuses to be normal, and Agent Matthew McCormick, an old friend from Quantico, may not be what he seems. It's not shaping up to be one of Mulder's better months. This is the latest story set in an alternate universe within Rhi's Highlander universe - with her kind permission. Follows "In the Eye of the Storm."
